The 2017 Irene Newman Award honors dental hygienists with 15 years of ADHA membership, achievement in education, and leadership.

GUIDELINES

Award recipient will be notified in March 2017 after judges review has been completed. Presentation to the award recipient will be made at ADHA’s 94th Annual Conference in Jacksonville, FL, during the Saturday General Session on June 17, 2017.

DESCRIPTION

This award is presented to a clinical dental hygienist who demonstrates outstanding clinical expertise in relating to interdependence of clinical practice and patient education for the improvement of patient compliance.

If your submission is selected you will receive the following award benefits:

  • $1,000 award

  • Recognition during ADHA's 94th Annual Conference in Jacksonville, FL which includes:
    • Complimentary meeting registration for Annual Conference
    • Round trip domestic airfare to Jacksonville, FL
    • 2 Days Per Diem ($200 total) to be used in Jacksonville, FL
    • 2 Nights Hotel Accommodations in Jacksonville, FL
    • Award recognition during Saturday's General Session, June 17, 2017

JUDGING

The Awards Committee selects one winner per year for this prestigious award. Committee decisions will be final.

ELIGIBILITY

Submissions will be evaluated by the ADHA Council on Member Services. The application will be evaluated based on the responses in each of the following sections:

  • Section I - Awards
  • Section II - Participation in Association, Community or Social Service Organizations
  • Section III - Essays

Each section will be evaluated independently to achieve a total composite value for each nominee evaluation. The total composite score from all council members will determine the recipients. The Irene Newman Professional Achievement Award will be presented to the applicant receiving the highest score above the established minimum requirements. The award may not be given each year. In addition to the criteria above, the applicant must have been/is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association for at least 15* cumulative years. This needs to be verified by the state/local leadership of your Constituent association by completing the Membership Verification Form.


*15 years of cumulative Active ADHA Membership is required for a member to be nominated for this award. This does NOT include Supporting or Student Membership
